Totally Free Volunteers

Job Descriptions

These are just some of the ways you can get involved in Totally Free Berkshires. We’re looking for a team of volunteers to help us spread the word, communicate and interact with others. A great chance to enhance your community service resume and experience! And lots of fun!

Sticker Shock

Youth of all ages working in teams put stickers on alcohol products in a store. The stickers let adults know that it is illegal to purchase alcohol for young people under the age of 21.

Shoulder Taps

High school age youth working in teams and hanging outside a store ask strangers if they would buy alcohol for them. Then they inform the strangers about their responses. The goals are to take a survey of how many adults will or will not purchase alcohol for kids and also to change the behavior of the adults who choose to buy for kids. Police officers are involved for safety.

Alcohol Purchase Surveys

Mystery shoppers ensure that store clerks, bartenders, and wait staff are checking IDs. Must be at least 21 years old. Shoppers provide information about the transaction to a driver, who is a volunteer from the Pittsfield Prevention Partnership.

Photographers & Article Writers

Volunteers are needed to take photos at events and write newspaper articles about the events.

Web Site Blog Editors

Working with PPP Staff, blog editors review posts to the Totally Free Berkshires blog site, edit as necessary for content or length, and post entries to the live site. Training in technology and editing criteria provided.

“I noticed a lot of underage kids saying we can wait until we’re 21, as most accidents happen before then.”
